You're welcome here
Welcome to Zion UMC. We invite you to come and experience the warmth of this church family described locally as "the best cooks in Spotsylvania County." But we do more than cook; we have a food pantry, Sunday School, and much more. The entrances to fellowship hall and the church are handicap accessible. We have nursery care for those under 5 during worship.

Service / mass schedule
Food Pantry
Hunger
Our wonderful gardeners maintain and grow a host of yummy and nutritious vegetables to add to our food pantry boxes during the summer. Extras are sent to SECA, the Spotsylvania Emergency Concerns Association.
Quilters
Music, Arts and Worship
Our quilters ministry offers prayer quilts to many different organizations and individuals. We work with the Linus Project, provide quilts to Veterans and to Alzheimer's care units, and local hospitals.
Centering Prayer - Kindred Project
Spiritual Life
We gather at 10 am in the sanctuary for a brief time of fellowship. We have a devotion and then have a time of centering prayer (a quiet meditative listening for God). We will offer training for those new to centering prayer. After our time of quiet we will share a few reflections and have communion. We plan to finish up by 11:30 am. Any who wish can then go to lunch.
Choir
Worship
We have a choir that practices on Wednesday nights from 6-7 pm and on Sunday mornings from 10:30 to 10:50. Its great fun.
Prayer Meeting
Spiritual Life
We meet weekly at a local restaurant to offer up some brief worship, conversation about scriptures for Sunday worship, and then a time of prayer for our church, local, national, and international concerns.
Trunk or Treat
Fun for All
The last Sunday of the month of October we host a trunk or treat event from 4 - 6 pm. Prizes for costumes. Games. Candy. and lots of fun and fellowship.
Food Pantry
Hunger
Once a month with give food boxes to those in need. We offer about 40 pounds of food per box. Often having bread and meat extras, depending on availability. During the winter months we have a winter coats, hats, gloves, and boots closet.
Care Meals
Caring
Whenever there is a need, the best cooks in Spotsylvania, step out in faith to bring a meal (and then some) to a church family during times of illness, death, or other times when a meal is just what you need.
Traditional Christmas Eve Service
Worship
This is a traditional service with some Christmas hymns, a Bible reading, sermon, communion, and ends with singing Silent Night and lighting candles to go out into the night.
Card ministry
Caring
We have a group of dedicated ministry servants who take time each week to send out cards to those in need: thinking of you, get well, grief, etc.
Christmas Eve worship for Families with young children
Worship
We gather at 5 (or a little before if you want your children to dress up in costume) to sing some simple carols and read the Christmas story from the Bible. If the children wish, they may dress up as characters from the Christmas story in simple, simple costumes. They may sit with their families until their character is called out in the Bible story. They then come up to the front to create a living nativity. No speaking parts. The service lasts thirty minutes and we end with Silent Night and battery operated candles. It is great fun.
