Privacy Policy

This Policy applies to NearMeChurch services that link to it. It does not govern a church’s independent handling of information outside NearMeChurch or third-party websites and services.

• Account and contact information: name, email, profile image, login and verification information, and messages.
• Church and listing information: church name, denomination, address, coordinates, contacts, service times, facilities, social links, photos, and administrator details.
• Community activity: subscriptions, events, attendance, appointments, announcements, communications, and prayer requests. A prayer request is public only when you choose that option.
• Location: a location or ZIP code you enter and, with browser permission, device location used to show nearby churches.
• Technical and usage data: IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, timestamps, referring pages, and security events.
• Cookies and similar technologies: data used to keep you signed in, remember settings, secure the service, and understand performance.

We receive data from you, churches and administrators, your device, and public or community-provided sources.

We use information to provide church search and maps; create and secure accounts; verify claims; publish listings; process subscriptions, prayer requests, appointments, events, and announcements; send requested communications; provide support; prevent abuse; improve the service; comply with law; and protect users and churches.

Where required, our legal bases include performing a contract, consent, legal obligations, and legitimate interests in operating, improving, and securing the service.

• Churches and administrators when needed for an interaction you initiate.
• The public when content is part of a public profile, event, photo, announcement, or prayer request you choose to publish.
• Service providers supporting hosting, maps, email, messaging, storage, security, analytics, and support.
• Legal and safety recipients when reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce terms, investigate misuse, or protect people and rights.
• Transaction participants during a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or asset sale, subject to law.

We do not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We use essential cookies or similar storage to authenticate users, remember preferences, and protect the service. Blocking cookies may prevent some features from working. Maps may load resources from providers including OpenStreetMap tile providers, which may receive technical details such as your IP address under their own policies.

We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. We then delete or de-identify it unless longer retention is required or permitted.

We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect information, but no internet service is completely secure. Use a unique password and contact us if you suspect account compromise.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information; restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent; or appeal a decision. You can also update certain data in the dashboard and unsubscribe from eligible communications.

Submit a request through our contact form with “Privacy request” in the subject. Describe your request and include the relevant account email. We may verify your identity or an authorized agent’s authority. We respond within the period required by law and do not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

California residents may have rights to know, access, correct, and delete personal information and opt out of its sale or sharing. In the preceding 12 months, categories we may have collected include identifiers; internet activity; geolocation; professional or organizational affiliation; and content or communications you provide.

We use those categories for the purposes above and may disclose them to service providers, churches you interact with, or legal and safety recipients. We do not currently sell these categories or share them for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not knowingly sell or share personal information of consumers under 16.

NearMeChurch and its providers may process data in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use appropriate transfer safeguards. EEA and UK residents may also complain to their local data-protection authority.

NearMeChurch is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Contact us if you believe a child provided personal information so we can review and delete it as appropriate.

We may update this Policy as our service, practices, or law changes. We will post the revised version and update the date above, with additional notice where required.
