Locust United Methodist Church was established in 1869 in an area known as Simpsonville. The original name was Locust Chapel. The current church building was constructed in 1951. Locust is only a seven-minute drive to the Conference/Mission Center. The congregation includes families who are direct descendants of the original founders. Our mission is to be known as “The Caring Place” for all of God’s children. Locust has a five-star United Methodist Women’s unit, an active United Methodist Men’s unit and youth group. There are three evening Bible studies led by the laity, as well as a Wednesday noon Bible study and worship service led by the pastor. Our outreach ministries include SHARE, PATH, a Bread Ministry, Camp Locust and Helping Hands, Inc. Locust is ADA accessible.
