You're welcome here

In a world torn apart by politics, economic disparity, and religious differences, it's easy to forget about the bonds that connect us with each other. In such a needlessly divided landscape, we want you to know that we're here and we want to "get connected" with you.

In the Scriptures of the Hebrew people, Ruth is revealed to be a woman who was no alien to the Jews by accident. When she was chosen, as a Moabite, to become the great-grandmother of King David, the greatest of the Hebrew kings, God was trying to say to the Israelites, and to us as well, that they, and we, have a connection with people in other lands.

In the New Testament, the Apostle Paul wasn't converted and sent to the Gentiles by accident. God was trying to say to the early followers of Jesus, and to us as well, that the Gospel ought to be shared with people beyond our comfort zones and outside our own faith traditions. And, finally, Jesus didn't die on the cross for just our friends and loved ones. He died for the sins of the WORLD, even for the people who live outside our normal spheres of influence...even our enemies.

So...come get connected with the First United Methodist Church family. Come explore the bonds of faith and practice that we all share. God knows the world can sure use a dose of unity!

We are proud to say that we have open hearts, open minds, and open doors. We're the People of The United Methodist Church.

Grace and peace in the name of Jesus Christ,

Al Horton - Senior Pastor
