Worship on Hurd

Worship

Every Sunday at 10:50 a group of diverse individuals gather as a community to worship and grow in Christ.  At Worship on Hurd, we strive to welcome everyone, whether you think you are a sinner or a saint.  By incorporating contemporary music within a liturgically rich worship, we try to embody authenticity and vulnerability as we grow in grace to be the children of god we are created to be.

Sermons are usually given by our Senior Pastor, Rev. Dr. Sam Powers or our Associate Pastor, Trey Witzel and mirror those that are preached in the sanctuary services.  Holy Communion is celebrated in Wesley Hall on the second and the last Sunday of the month.

Hospital Care Team

Caring

Our hospital care team volunteers care for those in the hospital through regular visits, phone calls and prayers.

Worship Service

Worship

Two identical worship services are offered at 8:30 & 11:00a.m. in the Sanctuary.  Our Senior Pastor, Rev. Samuel Powers is the primary preacher and Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of every month.

We are proud to worship in the liturgical tradition. Liturgy literally means “work of the people” and it includes shared written prayers, responsive readings and affirmations of faith that come from the variety of Christian tradition as well as those newly written for our context today.

The pipe organ and piano serve as the primary instruments for accompanying our singing.  We are blessed with a large adult choir that sings virtually every Sunday throughout the year while our adult handbell choir and two children's choirs also take leadership roles throughout the year.

Whether it's through the majestic sound of a full congregation singing one of the great hymns of the faith with a pipe organ or through the intimacy of a quiet prayer, we pray that these services will uplift and strengthen your spirit.

Chorister Choir

Music, Arts and Worship

The chorister choir exists to provide children with opportunities to become deeply devoted followers of Christ by instilling a love for and understanding of worship.

In this ensemble - geared toward children in 1st - 5th grades - the children learn the fundamentals of music reading and gain insight into basic patterns of worship.

Cherub Choir

Cancer Support Group

Caring

If cancer is a part of your life, do not cope alone; you have a church and a cancer support group that is here for you! Edmond FUMC members Tammy Padgett and Sue Amy are both cancer survivors who invite you to the Cancer Support Group's monthly meetings: third Friday of the month at 10 am in the Main Building, Room 314.

Items discussed are confidential.  Come fund out more about fellowship, increaded awareness, healing, optimism, strength, understanding and growing together.

Adult Choir

Music, Arts and Worship

Edmond FUMC is blessed to have a 50-voice adult choir that enhances our worship and outreach programs.  Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays from 7:15-8:45p.m. and Sundays from 5:00-6:30p.m. though members need only attend one of those rehearsals per week.

The ability to read music is helpful though not required.  The ensemble sings nearly every Sunday (with the exception of the month of July) at the 8:30 & 11:00 services.  Twice a year, they present a cantata or small oratorio.
