We welcome guests to Powell United Methodist Church! Our hope is that everyone who visits us feels welcome and at home here. We strive to be a welcoming congregation, and to offer worship experiences and programs to meet the needs of everyone, wherever they are on their spiritual path. Experience traditional Celebration Services Sundays at 8:15 and 9:30 am. Join us for our Contemporary Service called "Life Connections" at 11:00 am, where we invite you to come just as you are!

Youth in grades 6th - 8th play bells for the 8:15 and 9:30 am Sunday services
Greeter Ministry

Participate by welcoming people to worship; 8:15, 9:30 and 11:00 am services
Performing Arts Council

The Performing Arts Council performs a production every March. These productions, both secural and religious, involve children, youth and adults.
The Calling
Music, Arts and Worship
This Youth Praise Band (Middle and Senior High) is comprised of keyboard players, bass players, guitar players, percussionists and vocalists. They play on Sunday mornings during worship and at other events throughout the year.
Chancel Choir
Music, Arts and Worship
The Chancel Choir is the adult choir. They rehearse on Wednesday evenings and sing at the 9:30 am traditional Sunday service.
Joyful Ringers

Children in 3rd - 5th grades play handbells during the 8:15 and 9:30 am Sunday services
Family Promise
Reaching Out in Mission
This ministry provides shelter at the church and meals for families one week at a time as part of the Family Promise program in Delaware County
Mission Trip to the Holy Land

A trip is planned to Israel in June, 2011
Children's Choir
Music, Arts and Worship
For children in Kindergarten - 5th grade. The focus of this choir is the presentation of Christmas and spring musical productions. Rehearsals are usually on Sunday afternoons.
Peace and Justice Ministry

This ministry works to heighten awareness of environmental and human rights issues throughout the world.
Strings
Music, Arts and Worship
String players with at least two years of experience are welcome to play with the Powell UMC Strings group. Rehearsals are held weekly and they play for the 8:15 and 9:30 am Sunday services.
College Connection
Caring
This ministry connects the church family to our college students through sending them notes of encouragement and care packages
We offer an eprayer ministry and opportunities to participate in prayer vigils periodically.
Spiritual Life
We offer short and long term Bible studies.

This contemporary group plays for the Life Connections Contemporary worship service each week at 11:00 am

This ministry provides refreshments for our hospitality time on Sunday mornings
Cherub Choir

The Cherub Choir is for children ages 3 - Kindergarten. They rehearse on Sunday mornings from 10:35 - 11:00 am and sing on Sunday mornings during worship periodically.
Community Wall Build

Powell UMC participates in wall builds for Habitat for Humanity homes in Delaware County periodically
Senior High Mission Trip
Reaching Out in Mission
Senior High Youth usually travel to Mt. Top, Tennessee to perform work in that area
Job Link Ministry

Those without jobs and those employers looking for help are linked
The Altar Guild is responsible of dressing the altar for Sunday worship.
Music, Arts and Worship
Opportunities to participate include dressing the altar for traditional worship, dressing the altar for our contemporary service, and assisting with flower pick up.

Powell UMC sponsors two active Boy Scout troops and serves as a meeting location for various Girl Scout troops

Adult Handbells rehearse on Wednesday evenings and play during the 8:15 and 9:30 am worship services.

This group meets monthly to work on various quilting projects
Young at Heart

This group meets on Thursdays once a month for lunch at various restaurants.

Food Pantry Support
Hunger
Powell UMC supports People in Need in Delwarea County and the food bank at McKendree UMC
Middle High Mission Trip
Reaching Out in Mission
Middle High youth stay at Camp Otterbein in Logan, Ohio and complete work projects for people in the area.
Kairos Prision Outreach
Reaching Out in Mission
Participate in this program which brings the love of God to those who are incarcerated
Vacation Bible School
Reaching Out in Mission
This program is usually held for a week in mid-June from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm for children age 4 - 4th grade
Stephen Ministry

The Powell UMC Brass group plays periodically forthe 8:15 and 9:30 am Sunday worship services
Sound and Light Team

This team of indiviudals runs the video and sound for Sunday morning worship services and other events as needed
